Nike Pegasus 36

My long-run shoe. Enough cushion for anything over 10km without feeling disconnected from the ground.

The Pegasus 36 is a workhorse. No carbon plate, no wild geometry, no specific race-day purpose — just a well-made neutral training shoe with enough cushion to go long without fatigue and enough ground feel to keep cadence honest. It's the shoe I reach for when I'm not trying to make a statement.

I run mostly on paved paths around Port Melbourne and occasionally on compacted trails. The outsole handles both without drama. The upper is breathable enough for Melbourne summers and structured enough not to feel sloppy in the wet.

Fit is true to size. I sized up half from my usual casual size and there's enough toe room for the natural foot splay that happens over longer distances — no blisters, no hot spots after the first few runs.

I've put around 600km on this pair and the cushioning is still doing its job. Nike generally puts the useful midsole life at around 800km before the foam compresses enough to matter. I'll retire them around there and probably pick up the same shoe again.
